Teterboro handles more private traffic than any other airport in the New York area, and it is where schedulers and flight departments learn quickly which caterers can be trusted with a departure time. After more than four decades in private aviation catering, we have learned the difference shows up long before the aircraft doors open.
A field with a long memory
Opened in 1919, Teterboro is the oldest operating airport in the New York area. Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart both flew from the field, and the Fokker tri-motors that carried Richard Byrd toward the poles departed from here. That history is part of why TEB holds itself to a high standard, and why the operators based there expect the same from everyone who serves their flights.
Five terminals, one delivery point
Altitude serves every private terminal on the field: Signature Aviation East, Signature Aviation West, Atlantic Aviation, Meridian and Jet Aviation. Our standard handoff is at the terminal, where the order waits refrigerated and presented per the client's request. The crew brings it aboard once the cabin is ready. Delivery directly to the aircraft is available on request, but the terminal handoff protects the food's temperature and gives the cabin crew full control over timing.
What a well-built order includes
- The aircraft tail number, so the order is labeled and tracked to the exact jet
- The terminal and FBO, so the driver goes to the right door the first time
- Passenger and crew counts, so quantities are sized correctly rather than guessed
- Dietary needs and allergies, confirmed with the kitchen before production begins
- The departure window, so the order is packed to hold at peak condition for that time
Flight departments that request catering 72 hours ahead give the kitchen the most room, especially for seasonal and specialty selections. Shorter lead times are part of the business, and the team is built to handle them, but notice is the one ingredient no kitchen can substitute.
Cold chain on the ramp
A dish that leaves the kitchen perfect can still arrive tired if it sits in the wrong place at the wrong temperature. Every Altitude order travels in sealed, temperature-controlled packaging and is held refrigerated at the terminal until pickup, with the crew's packing sheet listing exact items, counts and any handling notes. The result is simple: what was prepared is what arrives.
